When it came to making their brand feel as unique as their work, we centred on a concept that bridges their pioneering spirit with their on-the-ground impact: Frontier AI, for the frontlines of the world. It’s an approach that celebrates Faculty’s legacy while setting a bold course for their future, bridging the gap between heritage, innovation, and impact.
Pushing boundaries
At the heart of our new visual identity lies the threshold, a versatile graphic element that embodies the spirit of both frontier and frontline. This fluid form, capable of shifting and evolving, mirrors Faculty’s dedication to innovation and technological progress. Our colour palette brings together traditional and contemporary hues, resulting in a visual language that is both familiar and forward-thinking.
Creating a custom typeface
Faculty Glyphic is a custom typeface designed to capture the essence of Faculty’s industry leadership. A tribute to London’s innovative legacy in computing, it draws inspiration from carved typography and the works of Berthold Wolpe, whose typeface Albertus is still found on the street signs of the City of London. The result is a typeface that blends history and modernity, paying homage to the brand’s home city. Reflecting Faculty’s commitment to open-source sharing, it is free to use for all via Google Fonts.
A digital evolution
The digital experience draws inspiration from editorial design, evoking Faculty’s thought leadership with clean, modern layouts and textured, bold typography that reflects their heritage. A refined colour palette maintains brand consistency, while a custom generative tool ensures Faculty can easily produce unique brand moments.
Visualising AI in action
Data visualisation is a cornerstone of Faculty’s work in applied AI. Our distinctive visual style combines clear, impactful illustrations, icons, and graphics. Our brand voice reflects a pragmatic visionary’s perspective, balancing groundedness with a forward-thinking mindset. The art direction focuses on real people in real-world settings, capturing the nuances of frontline work.
